A journey of growth: The story of BVSA Port Alfred
In the picturesque town of Port Alfred, a new chapter in accounting began in 2003 when Mandy Roesstorff, armed with eight years of experience and a vision for a personalised accounting service, launched M.R. Financial Services from the comfort of a garage-turned-office. What started with a handful of loyal clients who believed in her vision, quickly flourished into a thriving hub of financial expertise.
By 2005, Mandy’s relentless dedication had expanded the firm’s clientele to 50. This growth spurred the hiring of the firm’s very first employee, marking the beginning of a new era. The following year, as our client base ballooned to 270, we moved into our current, more centrally-located office in the heart of Port Alfred, setting the stage for further expansion.
The momentum didn’t stop there. In 2007, we welcomed Sally Coetzer, a bright-eyed trainee accountant, into our team. By 2012, our team had grown to eight, servicing an impressive 550 clients. That same year, we seized the opportunity to absorb a satellite office from a closing firm in Grahamstown, which added two seasoned employees and a hundred new clients to our ranks.
The year 2017 marked a significant milestone as M.R. Financial Services joined forces with the BVSA Group. This partnership enhanced our capabilities and resources, allowing us to serve an even broader community. By 2019, our team had grown to include two professional accountants, with Sally Coetzer earning her credentials and helping us elevate our service level to 850 clients.
From 2020 to 2023, we focused on consolidating our gains, enhancing our offerings, and deepening client relationships. Today, we stand proud with over 900 clients and a dedicated team of 11 professionals who are committed to providing exceptional service. Our journey from a garage office to a cornerstone of the Port Alfred business community reflects our dedication to growth, excellence, and the relationships we’ve built along the way.
