HR and Payroll Manager – Swellendam

BVSA Swellendam is looking for an experienced, professional and self-motivated
HR and Payroll Manager to join our dynamic team.

Location: Swellendam
Starting date: As soon as possible

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing clients’ payroll
administration and employee tax functions, as well as the complete human
resources function for BVSA’s internal staff.

The position requires excellent administrative skills, a strong understanding
of labour and tax legislation, and the ability to handle confidential matters
professionally.

Key Responsibilities

Client Payroll and Statutory Administration

  • Process and manage clients’ payroll using PaySpace.
  • Administer employee tax obligations, including EMP201 returns, EMP501
    reconciliations and IRP5 certificates.
  • Manage UIF and other statutory registrations, amendments and obligations.
  • Handle COIDA and Compensation Fund matters for clients.
  • Provide payroll advice and support to clients.

Internal HR Function

  • Manage the complete HR function for BVSA’s staff.
  • Draft employment contracts and administer and maintain employee records.
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and termination processes.
  • Support management with staff-related matters.
  • Handle disciplinary processes, grievances and other labour-relations matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour legislation.
  • Promote positive employee relations and support staff wellbeing.

Minimum Requirements

  • A qualification in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations or a related field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in HR and payroll administration.
  • Practical PaySpace experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of South African labour legislation, payroll administration,
    PAYE, UIF, other employee tax requirements and COIDA/Compensation Fund matters.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of professional ethics and the ability to handle confidential
    information discreetly.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience in a professional services firm or accounting practice would be
    advantageous.
